Thanks for connecting with this page! I appreciate the time you are taking to learn more about therapy, and to learn a little more of my therapeutic perspective/approach as a licensed mental health therapist.
If you (or people you love) are facing the same life issue(s) that you have been trying to change for years, or if something you’ve previously managed well is now becoming unmanageable, or if you’ve been blindsided by a serious issue you could never have predicted, I believe the therapeutic process can serve as a powerful ally to help you meet life and relationship challenges. As a therapist (or counselor), I’m ready to connect and collaborate with you (and your family or partner as needed) and help you make progress starting from where you are right now.
I have experience working with people from all across the lifespan: children (age 5 and up), teens, and adults of all ages. I’ve worked with individuals and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief and loss, separation/divorce, mood disorders, addiction concerns, PTSD, relationship issues (including teens and parents), and other issues as well.
Therapy is a resource specifically developed to help people face life’s difficulties. While working within this process, people can discover, explore, and cultivate personal strengths, abilities, and positive habits that they may not have been able to develop before. You may only seek out a mental health professional once in your life for a specific issue, or you may visit with a mental health professional on a regular basis. Each person’s goals and life experience is different.
As a professional therapist, I have many possible tools, interventions, theories, and ways of working to choose from. Some of these choices include Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focused, EMDR, Art and Play therapy, Narrative therapy, Theatre therapy, and Sand Tray therapy. I also may draw on music and movement within the therapeutic process.
The most important aspect of me working with you, however, is that everything flows from your uniqueness as an individual. You have a great deal of choice in the therapy/counseling process. I believe the therapeutic process works best when it is a collaboration between client and therapist.
I welcome clients of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, gender identities, and relational preferences. I work hard to check in on my own unconscious privilege, and I participate regularly in ways to expand my understanding of race, ethnicity, and culture. Safety is extremely important in my work, and respect for every client is safeguarded.
I’ll be ready to work with you, to discover and follow a path that can create a life and relationships that feel right and good to you — or, in other words, bring out the best of who you are.
