Through decades of living, I have reached the obvious conclusion that life is a mix. Life brings us joys and sorrows, accomplishments and setbacks, belonging and disconnection, clarity and confusion, hope and discouragement, beginnings and endings. These experiential contrasts, shared by all humans, make the life journey both deeply rich and profoundly difficult. Life is full of twists and turns.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in my belief that each person carries strengths and the ability to heal from the wounds that accompany living. As a therapist, I bring my listening and attention to the experiences and concerns of my clients. The therapeutic process can allow you to untangle your own life-mix in an environment of safety and acceptance and to explore with curiosity and without judgement the unique factors, stresses, and influences on your situation.
I work with adults of all ages facing major changes, life transitions and adjustments, health problems, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and relationship issues. I place great importance on building a trusting, collaborative relationship, within which you may find the freedom to share your story, discover and reclaim your own strengths, and rekindle self-awareness, self-compassion, and internal resilience.
My past clinical experience has largely been in the healthcare settings of hospital, oncology, and hospice, helping individuals and families navigate the myriad challenges that accompany health issues. With a difficult diagnosis, as with many unexpected life events, it is vital to ask, “What is important to you now?” and to explore avenues of meaning, purpose, and hope. As a certified Advance Care Planning facilitator, I continue to help individuals, couples and families navigate the process of understanding, reflection and communication about values and goals for health care, especially care at the end of life.
My husband and I have lived in Northfield since 1993. Our three children are all grown and married, and we have entered the adventure of grandparenting. I love spending time in music, reading, travel, and actively enjoying the outdoors.
